Who has the Monster Hunters Union wronged? How have they been wronged? I think we may need a little more information about the world… there are people who hunt monsters, but also people have ownership over monsters like they are pets? In terms of the characters in the story, what’s the connection between the two?

Does this end up being a dog-fighting type thing just with monsters?

Who is the protagonist? What is the event that kick-started this story? What goal does this set up for the protagonist?

Many of your loglines give us a premise but lack a story within that world. I think this is a shame, because some of the worlds you create are interesting. A logline needs that story – that’s simply what a logline is.

      Hope this helps.

The monster hunters have wronged everyday people who have been hiding monsters from them or who get in their way. The hunters murder friends and family members of those they target. The main characters at this point of the story is the remaining members of the Litz family, and three others they recruited to become monsters with them, to help win the battle against the hunters. It is only until after the union is defeated, disbanded, and no longer hunt monsters, it becomes much easier for beings to return to Earth after death as whatever they want, and most choose monsters. So now, the human population is only in the thousands, and there are billions of monsters. The majority of the script will follow a monster handler, and will be very much like a violent, realistic pokemon movie.  His goal is to become the most powerful human on the planet by proving the strength of his monsters.

The logline should be written from the point of view of this monster handler then.

I will attempt your suggestion, though I quite like my initial logline.

In a story, you have a lead character

Something happens to that lead character

This causes the lead character to have a goal.

However, achieving that goal isn’t easy because something stands in the lead character’s way.

        Who is the lead character?

        What do they want?

What is standing in their way?

The lead characters for the first 30-or-so pages are two family members and those they recruit. They want to commit suicide to speak with God and convince God to send them back to Earth as a monster so they can get revenge against the hunters union for murdering those they love. The union fights back and is what stands in their way, due to their hi-tech weaponry and ability to transfer their own hunters into the body of monsters. After the family members are victorious, then the story jumps ahead in time centuries, and the new lead character is a monster handler who dreams of becoming the most powerful person on the planet, and those in his way are villainous monster handlers who wouldn’t think twice about murdering the lead and his monsters.
